Michael Ingle

Michael Ingle is one of the few people worldwide with professional experience as both a classical musician and a highly trained physiotherapist with expertise in musician's injuries. Michael was inspired to create a specialised physiotherapy service for instrumental musicians after his experiences as both a professional orchestral trombonist and physiotherapist of over 10 years clinical and research experience.
Michael completed a Master of Music Performance degree through the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Michael's professional music career took him to some of the most renowned concert halls and festivals in the world.

He also completed his formal music study with Mr Scott Kinmont (Sydney Symphony Orchestra) and Prof. Branimir Slokar at the Freiburg Hochschule für Musik, Germany and informal study as a BBM scholar with members of leading European symphony orchestras.
During his Master of Music degree, Michael completed a thesis on pain in elite tertiary music students at The Australian National Academy of Music, under the supervision of pioneering physiotherapist Dr Bronwen Ackermann.

Michael earned his undergraduate (2010) and postgraduate musculoskeletal (2017) degrees at Curtin University School of Physiotherapy. He currently practices as an advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapist at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (Queensland Health), providing specialist-level opinion to people with persistent spinal (back and neck) pain.

In 2023 Michael was head physiotherapist for Opera Australia's Wagner Ring Cycle.
